A look back on 2014…

I love reading everyone’s recaps of this past year.

Some people don’t see a point to treating the new year as anything special, but I personally love the chance to reflect back on what each year meant for me. What I accomplished, who was a part of the journey, and everything in between. This is my third year of recapping, and you can read my 2012 and my 2013 recaps. Like past years, 2014 was amazing and challenging in its own unique ways.

Here are some highlights from this past year…

2014-1

I sold my house, a house I owned but didn’t want for almost 8 years. This was such a huge relief and felt like I was finally closing out a chapter of my life that I was more than ready to leave behind. Out of the 8 long years I had it, I probably only enjoyed owning it for 1 year. Outside of that, it felt like a huge burden to me, something I would never escape. And then this last summer while checking in with my realtor on refinancing options, she told me it was a great time to sell if I was ready. Was I ever! After 6 days on the market, my first home sold with great enthusiasm and relief from me, and for asking price… which left me some money to help get some financial stress sorted out.

I finally got a handle on my finances. Money. We hadn’t been friends for most of my life, but this past year I got really clear on where I was at and what I needed to create the financial picture I so desire. I started budgeting like a pro, hired my money manager in the business, and really set myself up for serious success. I have no doubts that 2015 will now be the year where I really pay down debt, build up a savings cushion, and start living on the level I desire… all because of the groundwork I laid this past year.

I made it halfway through my half marathon training. Would it be more exciting to say I completed my first half marathon here? Yes, but I’m so thrilled by the fact that my two little legs carried me SIX WHOLE MILES this past summer. For someone who couldn’t run a half mile without dying several years ago, and who’s always had the goal to run a half, this is such an accomplishment! I ended up stopping my training when life became overwhelming and running was burning me out, but I’m so proud of all the work I did.

2014-2

I launched and grew My Awesome Life Mastery™, a year long membership program. When I first had this idea last year, I got some serious push back from friends and mentors. They told me it was way too much to give at such a low price… but wow, I have never been happier with something I’ve created. I love, love, love my Mastery program, my members, and the amazing things we’ve created together over the last year. Being able to put my work out into the world in an affordable and accessible way has been so important and fulfilling for me. I can’t wait to watch it grow in 2015.

I launched and ran Your Passion-Based Business™ for the first time. I’ve had a business building program in me for some time now, and I finally sat down this year and created it. I poured everything I had into this 12-week program and am SO PROUD of it and the content. It was quite the experience to create, but I’m so glad I did it. I constantly reference it with my clients and while there’s definitely things that can be added and tweaked, it came out really, really solid.

I became a front end engineer, and the fastest WordPress developer I know. Over the last year, I had the opportunity to work under some very talented people in both marketing and development arenas. I took my “okay” development skills and really learned how to code and build sites. It was so much fun (something I never thought I’d say), and I love having this skill set. Three years ago I would break a WordPress site trying to change a font or image… now I can build them from scratch in a matter of hours. Life is cool.

I stepped back into design, and created a really amazing offering. For most of the year I didn’t offer design services, because I needed to take a break from that area of my business. It wasn’t fulfilling me or feeling good, and that just didn’t work. After spending most of the year coaching and doing other things outside my business, I finally stepped back into design. Having my new development skills and all my experience with content creation, brand strategy, marketing and more, I created Jumpstart. I have never loved a website design package like I do Jumpstart. It allows me to really deliver everything my clients need, while still allowing my work to be affordable and accessible. It so cool to finally nail offerings in a way that feels amazing to both me and my clients.

2014-3

I published my first book, Awesome Life Tips™! I’ve been writing these daily tips for over two years, and I finally sat down with my amazing team and pulled the best together to create my first book. A real, published, hold-it-in-your-hands book! It was a labor of love and it felt so good to finally hold the first copy!

I got the support I really needed, and my business soared. I bumped my project manager up to Business Manager, handing over more of the business and freeing up my time to do what I’m great at: coaching, strategy, sales, creation. We also brought on a social media and project manager for additional support, I hired a money manager who handles my budget and helps me stay on track financially, and I worked with a few different coaches on a business, spiritual, and relationship level. I learned to lean on my friends and business advisors more, and relaxed into the amazingness that is having support. Life and business changing.

I completely eliminated food cravings and emotional eating. This is HUGE. I started working with the amazing Kara Sorensen to eliminate cravings, did some cleanses, and started really cleaning up my diet. Being able to say “I’m not an emotional eater” is HUGE. Such a life changing thing, and something I never thought I’d be able to say. At the end of the year I had some emotionally challenging times, and I didn’t once turn to food. Did I say huge?

2014-4

I got certified in TAT: Tapas Acupressure Technique. After working with Kara, I was enthralled with Acupressure and immediately set out to get certified. This tool has changed so much in my life, and I’ve had so much fun as I start to share it with my clients. This will be a big part of the work I do in the coming years, and I’m beyond thrilled to bring it to my audience.

I deepened my spiritual practice. I’ve had a very clear calling to venture down a more spiritual path, and have held a clear vision for what’s next for me in my work. I’ve worked with an intuitive energy healer, an intuitive coach, started working with crystals and gemstones, made meditation a priority, started doing energy work via Acupressure, and even bought my first Tarot deck (so, so cool, a post for another time). The guidance I’ve received is to continue on this path by playing and exploring. I feel so much clearer on the work I’m here to do, and finally see how everything ties together.

I met some really amazing people. I spent most of my life without friends, because I just didn’t fit in. I didn’t belong and I couldn’t seem to find my people. In the last year I’ve had the chance to connect with so many amazing people, and I’m so grateful for that. I think a big piece is me showing up more fully as who I am, allowing me to connect more deeply with those around me.

I finally grew up as I bid farewell to my 20s. As I started to approach my 30th birthday, I suddenly felt grown up and really clear on who I am, what I want, and how to make it happen. I also felt really in charge of my life… from my finances, to my business, to everything in between, I just felt like I knew what I was doing. It was a cool shift to experience, and it just happened one day. I feel like a woman, not a girl… and I’m so, so excited for this new decade of my life.

I did a lot of amazing things this year.

Too many to list, but those are the highlights that really came to me as worth mentioning here. I feel so proud of this last year. It was hard in so many ways, and I learned so much, just like every year. I feel so expansive thinking about 2015, and I just know it’s going to be one for the record books.

Now I want to hear about your year.

The highs, the lows, and everything you want to share.
